Stories
I was brought up on stories. Books, of course, but also the anecdotes my mum and dad loved to tell. I could happily hear them tell these stories over and over again.
And whether I’m writing about 17th century Europe or 19th century industry, I’m always telling stories. Because, no matter what the subject matter, stories are always about people. And we’re all of us interested in people, aren’t we?
